Clue is an amazing game that crafts a unique murder mystery story each time it is played. Scientific Games was approached by Hasbro (who we license some titles from) in order to bring in some fresh ideas and breathe some new life into their classic titles.
I decided to revamp a favorite of mine, Clue. I wanted to give it a new setting and allow the players to tell a story in a different way while still holding on to familiar concepts that would allow the player to still feel comfortable plating the game. I wanted the players feel like they are part of a crew on a mission across the galaxy, however the mission goes awry when one of the crew member is missing. Can you find out who done it?
By creating a set of icons with a defined shape language across the board I was able to create a wide range of imagery. Pulling inspiration from tons of different sci-fi classics and merging them with existing themes already in Clue, like replacing the revolver with the raygun or the rope with the fuel hose allowed me a lot of flexibility without compromising the core gameplay that the players are accustomed to.
